Rethreads

What types of clothes do you sell?
We sell modern, trendy and fun!! clothing from top name designers and labels. You can also find accessories including shoes, belts, hats, jewelry, and more. We are not a thrift shop, we only sell top name and hot fashion labels in good condition; some "new with tag"!

Do you do consignment?
No consignment. We pay in cash or trade on the spot for any items accepted (WARNING: We are very selective with what we offer for sale in our stores!).

Do I have to make an appointment?
No appointment is necessary. We will assist those who come to our buy counter on a first come, first serve basis. Wait times may vary.

What hours are you buying?
Rethreads State St., Madison  (608) 257-1018      The buy counter is open 11:30am - 5:30pm   Monday/Wednesday/Friday

Rethreads Odana Rd., Madison  (608) 203-8123     The buy counter is open 11:30am - 5:30pm Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday

How long does selling take?
It depends on how busy the buy counter is. Wait times range from 15 minutes to one hour. We ask sellers to limit the number of items they bring to no more than 15 items per visit.

What type of items are you looking for?
Generally speaking:

We buy gently used, designer and quality brands according to current season, the item’s condition, what’s fashionable, and what’s in demand. PLEASE BRING ITEMS FRESHLY LAUNDERED AND FOLDED. NO HANGERS! NO PLASTIC BAGS!!! Buyers reserve the right to refuse to consider items not properly prepared for sale.

The best way to know what we take is to look at what we have, the labels we carry, the condition of the clothes, and the styles we highlight.

Do you donate items you pass on?
We are NOT a donation drop-off point. Only select items are accepted for donations based on the needs of the service organizations we support.

If you are interested in donating your items to Re-threads please contact the desired location about their donation policy.

Anything you don’t take?
In general: Formal wear, suits / business-wear, swimsuits, underwear, socks, dirty or damaged items. Please, no clothes in plastic bags, on hangars, or in luggage.

Please note!  We are picky.  As a small business we do not have the volume to take every 'good' item we see, so we watch for high quality labels in good or excellent condition.  We try to pick the best selection for our customers based on current trends, inventory needs, and items that add pizzazz to our inventory. Please don't be offended if we do not accept your items for purchase. We must cater to what we believe will sell in our stores to our customers.

Are you on Facebook?
Yes! And Instagram too? Please follow us and stay posted on flash sales and new arrivals!

Is Rethreads a local business?

Yes. Our stores are locally owned. Shop local!

You talk about green business on your site. What makes Rethreads green?

The biggest green initiative is recycled clothing. According to the EPA, 11.9 million tons of textiles were sent to landfills in 2007. That’s a lot of threads. Promoting an active exchange of recycled textiles is green. We’re also trying to be as conscientious and responsible with the materials we use and the new merchandise we buy.

Are you crazy for starting a business in the United States in 2009 with the economy as it is?
Well, yes, maybe, but we really believe in the buy / sell / trade concept. If you’re feeling a budget squeeze, there’s no better way to stretch your fashion dollar than shop used. What sounds better? A $135 pair of new jeans or the same jeans, worn a few times, for only $45. Plus, we’re offering cash for clothes, which is another great stimulus to your personal closet economy.
